Harold Poston has more than 25 years of experience in federal IT, with deep subject matter expertise across Health IT modernization, Defense Health Agency programs, and Army enterprise IT transformation. Poston leads Abt’s growth strategy for Military Health and VA, connecting federal clients to Abt’s capabilities in digital transformation, data services, and program modernization.
Poston’s federal health IT credentials span some of the most complex modernization programs in the Department of War (DOW). He served as Program Manager for the Program Executive Office (PEO) Defense Health Management Systems (DHMS) Program Support Services contract, supporting the $6 billion effort to modernize the Department’s Electronic Health Record (EHR) by deploying MHS GENESIS worldwide.
More recently, he advised PEO DHMS and PM JOMIS on their transition from a legacy waterfall environment to an agile software factory model, helping position the program to deliver five new software products within two years after a period of no delivery. Additionally, he provided senior advisory support to the DoW Chief Information Officer and served as liaison between the DoW CIO and DHA CIO during the Zero Baseline Budget Review of Military Health IT spending resulting in 200M in savings.
Mr. Poston began his career as a U.S. Army Signal Officer, where he designed and operated communications and IT infrastructure in combat operations in Iraq.
