Melanie Wilson is a strategic communications and engagement specialist with more than 20 years’ experience working across international development, government, NGO and corporate sectors. Her career has been defined by delivering purposeful communications, reputation management and stakeholder engagement in complex environments.
As a member of Abt’s International Technical Practice, Melanie provides strategic advice on communicating with clarity, credibility and purpose. Melanie brings deep experience in international development communications, including managing high level events, crisis and issues management, and evidence-based storytelling that demonstrates impact and partnership.
Prior to joining Abt, Melanie was the Public Diplomacy and Communications Manager for the Australian Government’s Australian Volunteers Program. Working closely with DFAT, she was responsible for protecting and promoting the program’s reputation in Australia and overseas, and for ensuring communication activities supported with DFAT’s strategic objectives.
Previously, Melanie held senior roles in stakeholder communications, community engagement and information management. In her role with a global resources company, she supported social performance and community engagement across international operations. Her work has spanned change management, systems implementation and the development of clear, accessible communications for diverse audiences.
