Building Strong Communities

Since 2000, Abt Global has partnered with the Tajik government on a series of health system strengthening efforts that contributed to significant reductions in child mortality and improvement in health outcomes. These efforts include USAID’s Healthy Mother, Healthy Baby (HMHB) activity. Abt helps increase access to high quality maternal, child health, and nutrition services while enhancing institutional capacity to manage health and nutrition programs. Through USAID’s Eliminating Tuberculosis in Central Asia project, we are working to reduce the burden of TB and DR-TB through increased efficiency and sustainability of quality, patient-centered TB services. Abt has also contributed to Tajikistan’s national climate adaption strategy through the ADB-funded Building Capacity for Climate Resilience project. We collaborated with local communities to develop adaptation plans and spread climate change awareness among diverse stakeholders involved in local development planning. As part of the USAID Local Health System Sustainability Project (LHSS), Abt supports the Government Tajikistan to implement the national COVID-19 Country Preparedness and Response Plan against COVID-19. This has included targeted technical assistance to the national laboratory and supply chain management systems.
