The Medicare Hospice Benefit covers end-of-life care and symptom management for beneficiaries' terminal illness and related conditions. Beneficiaries may still receive services through other Parts of the Medicare Program for illnesses which are unrelated to the terminal illness or related conditions. This article examines expenditures related to all Medicare expenditures that occur during hospice elections in calendar year 2012.
