In Pursuit of Equity, Every Month is Pride Month
This month in 1969, New York City’s LGBTQIA+ community protested against police harassment to ensure they were seen, heard, and recognized. The Stonewall Riots gave rise to the gay rights movement and Pride Month that recognizes the contributions and struggles of members of the LGBTQ+ community. More than 50 years later, Pride Month reminds us that injustices and barriers still remain for the LGBTQIA+ community, who often feel marginalized and live in the shadows of society.
At Abt, Pride Month provides an opportunity to recognize and celebrate our LGBTQIA+ family, friends, and associates, and embrace our culture of diversity, equity, and inclusion. We want our associates to bring their authentic selves to work, to know—and feel—they are safe, respected, and valued. We incorporate diversity, equity, inclusion, and accessibility in all we do, partnering with beneficiaries and colleagues with lived experience to enhance our work. This means drawing on the broadest pool of innovative ideas to give our solutions context, additional validity, and relevancy. Our emphasis on valuing lived experience, expanding diversity, and centering equity is foundational to our work that “moves people from vulnerability to security.”
So, this month and every month, Abt is proud to be an ally with our LGBTQIA+ associates and colleagues globally as we leverage our unique talents and strengths to solve the world’s toughest challenges.
